Metallic silicon, also known as crystalline silicon and industrial silicon, is mainly used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys. It is made by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace. The main component (Si is about 98%) and other impurities are iron, aluminum and calcium.
Applicable industries
1. It is mainly used in the production of silicon, the preparation of high purity semiconductor materials and the preparation of special purpose alloys.
2. It is used for smelting into ferrosilicon alloy and reducing agent.
3. It's a good antioxidant.
