Ferro Vanadium Production Process
Ferrovanadium is primarily produced by smelting in an electric furnace, with vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅) serving as the key raw material. The most common method is the silicon-thermal reduction process, where vanadium pentoxide is reduced using ferrosilicon as the reducing agent at high temperatures. This reaction takes place inside the electric furnace, allowing efficient alloying of vanadium with iron.
During the smelting process, precise temperature control and raw material composition are critical to ensure the desired vanadium content and alloy quality. The resulting ferrovanadium alloy typically contains a high percentage of vanadium (usually around 50%), combined with iron and trace elements.
