Uses of Magnesium Ingot

  1. Magnesium ingots are lightweight metals, with a density approximately two-thirds that of aluminum.

  2. Due to their low density, they are widely used across aerospace, military, transportation, and 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) industries.

  3. Magnesium ingots are essential in the production of ferrosilicon magnesium alloys.

  4. With ongoing technological advancements and emerging processes, the applications of magnesium ingots are expected to expand even further.

The Production Process of Magnesium Ingot

  • Dolomite is crushed into 30-40 mm qualified pieces and sintered in a rotary kiln to produce white calcine.

  • The calcine is cooled, ground into powder by a ball mill, and pressed into balls.

  • After crushing, the balls are evenly mixed with 75% silicon-containing ferrosilicon powder and fluorite powder.

  • The mixture is loaded into a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction tank and placed in a reduction furnace.

  • Under a vacuum degree of 1.33 Pa and at 1200-1250℃, reduction occurs to form crude magnesium.

  • The crude magnesium is refined by solvent treatment, cast, and surface-treated to produce the final magnesium ingot.
